+ The handcuffs! Just how awkward is it for them to be attached to each other? How close do they get closer because of it? What about the sexual tension?

+ Canon divergence where L finds out who Kira is early. Does L approach Light at that point, or does he use other tactics?

+ Light wins, but L doesn't die. In fact, Light keeps him for whatever purposes he wants—anything from dodging investigators or a sex slave.

+ What happens after the reunite after death? L wouldn't be a shinigami, but Light might be, so what happens if they do meet and something like that does happen?

 

+ For art: Light and L sitting on a couch and L is sleeping agianst Light's shoulder. Just have them in the handcuffs looking at each other with annoyed expressions. L and sweets... Light is covered in sweets. Any usual symbolism like apples, god poses.

Queen/Her Younger Female Knight

+ The queen has had many knights in her time, but all of them are so set in their ways and too traditional. But this new knight is different. She is either open-minded, or she has something else in common with the queen.

+ The queen worries constantly about the younger knight, but the younger knight proves herself capable. That worry still leads to late night talks and throne visits...

+ The knight protects the queen from a bandit or thieves or another enemy on the road.

+ Perhaps the older queen's spouse has died, and she confides in the knight about it, bringing them closer together?

 

+ For art: The knight crossing her weapon (arrows, swords, etc.) protectively in front of the queen. The queen holding up the knight's hand.

 

Immortal Dragon/Human Princess Sent As Tribute

+ The dragon is old-fashioned and picky. It has high expectations for its tributes, but this princess doesn't impress it at first. She does something that changes that attitude.

+ The princess expecs to die. She's prepared. But what she finds there... isn't what they told her she should expect.

+ Why is the dragon immortal? Does it get to be mortal and die if it has enough tributes? But what happens if it doesn't want to kill the princess, will it remain immortal?

 

+ For art: Princess sleeping under the dragon's wing. Princess hugging the dragon around the neck. Anything with bright reds/blues for fire.

 

Older Sentient Tree/Younger Sentient Plant

+ Seeds scattered in the wind and lay in front of the tree, where they take root. The tree becomes protective of the plant because the tree has witnessed it grow from a seedling.

+ The tree gives life to the plant with its magic.

+ Perhaps someone puts many plants there, but the one plant is special and beautiful more so than the rest of the plants.

+ What do they talk about that makes them feel closer to each other?

+ The plant impresses the tree, somehow.
+ What if the tree or plant is more monstrous/carnivorous?

 

+ For art: The plant sitting under the tree's shadow. The plant on the tree's roots. Orange, pinks, or greens, for example, might be good colors for the tree and plant.

Himemiya Anthy/Tenjou Utena

Himemiya Anthy/Tenjou Utena

+ Anthy has moments where she thinks about Utena's kindness, even when she doesn't seem to understand it. How does that impact her expectations of being the Rose Bride?

+ I liked that Anthy finally seemed to believe in Utena after she works so hard to protect her, in a way. What happens post-canon when Anthy goes to look for her and leaves her brother behind? Where is Utena after she sets Anthy free? How do Anthy's thoughts change? Is she fully dedicated to it, and does she feel more emotion now that she has a purpose?

+ Akio says that it'd be a miracle if she ever dies. Does she ever die? Is she happy, sad, upset? Anthy may die alone, or perhaps she's with Utena at the end of her life? How does it come about?

+ What does she think in the moments she betrays Utena? Is she really apathetic about the whole thing? I believe she is, but she can always change her mind. What if she didn't care that Utena was a girl and could become her prince? What if things had gone differently and she didn't?

+ Any moments during their daily lives. Dates, duels, talking to their friends/Student Council dustlists, quiet moments, or even trips?

+ I loved their dance in the movie.

+ Honestly, I'll take other AUs based on being a prince/princess/priestess/royalty or anything like that that play off similar character tropes.

+ Based on the movie ending, what happens to them now at the end? What does the entire thing mean to them to get to the outside world? How do they build their lives from there?

 

+ For art: Any of the surrealism elements from the series. Roses, clouds, high buildings, or food. Hugging. Sitting down over tea.
