I'm not familiar with latter 'gatari series. If you want to reference something you can let me know, but I've only seen Bakemonogatari.

 

Kanbaru Suruga/Senjougahara Hitagi: I really found Kanbaru's attraction to Senjougahara interesting, and I'd love to see that pining requited in some way. Maybe Senjougahara decides she should give Kanbaru a chance? She never becomes a thing with Araragi and instead picks her? So any firsts here would be welcome. I tend to see Senjougahara with more yandere/kuudere traits than tsundere. I think it'd pair nicely with Kanbaru's jealousy. But I'll be interested to see how she interacts with Kanbaru regardless!

Happy Sugar Life

Ships: Kobe Shio/Matsuzaka Satou

I've been following the anime as it airs, but I should be caught up with the manga by the time reveals happen.

 

Kobe Shio/Matsuzaka Satou: Satou does care about Shio, and I'd love to see flavors of fluff and dark in their relationship as the series dishes out. I wouldn't mind seeing a future fic. What happens if Satou manages to keep their secret under control until Shio's older? How does Satou handle Shio's PTSD, or Shio taking care of Satou? Seeing their first time together would be sweet. Given the nature of canon, underage is fine here. Glimpses into their daily life would be nice—perhaps Satou takes a day off and they leave the apartment because Shio wants to go somewhere different for a change. Satou, despite being against it, doesn't want to hurt her feelings anyway?

Higa Kanata/Oozora Haruka: I love how Haruka and Kanata encourage each other, and I'd love to see more! How do they grow as partners? Do they eventually have a relationship that's known to other beach volleyball players as a couple? I'd love to see firsts: awkward dates, sex on the beach after a particularly amazing game of volleyball, etc.

 

Higa Kanata/Tooi Narumi: I'd love a look into Kanata and Narumi's past and their "ex" status. How close were they? I'd love to see them work together and try to fix things between them, or never break up at all. Narumi's POV would be appreciated, too.

Detective/Serial Killer:

 

Nature Witch/City Witch: Once upon a time, the Nature Witch was powerful. The City Witch came and took over everything; the people of the land moved to the metropolis and technology became important. People forgot about nature, thought it was primitive. The City Witch has grown in power. I suppose with this setup there's room for angst and hate pining. For art I'd love to see differences between city/nature (grey colors or busy intricate patterns for the city, blues/browns for nature).

 

Assassin/Her Target's Bodyguard: A bit of a rivalry breaks out between them. Maybe the bodyguard expects the assassin. I'd love feelings shifting from wanting to protect the target to simply just being excited to fight the assassin, maybe? For art: crossing weapons.

 

Magic Gardener/Rose Monster: I'd love extra emphasis on the magic gardener's command over her garden. Does she use magic on all the plants? Is that how they're special? When the rose monster appears, is it because of her magic gone haywire, or does she just give too much love to the roses? For art: Gardener wrapped with the rose monster's thorns/roses (pain bondage?).

 

Dutiful Female City Guard/Female Thief Who Keeps Getting Caught: I'd love if the thief was the super clumsy, constantly stuttering type. Or, she has some special reason to be stealing even if it isn't her thing. Or maybe the thief means badly but she's terrible at stealth. How long has the city guard been around? Do they make a bet that, if the thief loses, she'll start stealing? For art: city guard grabbing into thief's wrist, looking into each other's eyes. Whatever they stole.

 

Queen of Magical Land of Rainbows and Happiness/Evil Sorceress Who Kind Of Digs It Despite Herself: What I'd dig is if you show just how deep the sorceress is into happy stuff. You know in those superhero movies there's a secret passage in the panel? What if the sorceress has an evil looking bedroom (torture weapons, cursed artifacts, etc.) but she's hiding it all away. It gets her off in private. She could try to disguise herself when she visits the magical land, too, but the queen figures out who she is. The sorceress may try to take her place at the throne? For art: all the sparkly and stark contrasts of light and dark.

Stray Nekomimi Cat Girl/Rich Cat Lady: Bonus points if there's h/c and the rich cat lady finds the cat girl. The cat girl doesn't want to stay and cause trouble but the lady insists and gives her everything she wants? Or it can be a be darker and the cat lady has other plans for the cat girl. Petplay would be great, too! For art: collars, pasts on the head, sitting next to a fireplace.

Star Mermaid/Female Space Traveller(s): A spaceship of travellers would be interesting, especially if they landed on a star. The star's gravity pulls them in? Except they expect to die. However! The star is mostly made out of gases and the star mermaid protects them? I'd like to know how this mermaid is a star mermaid, so worldbuilding would be cool too. For art: stars, the traveller/mermaid somewhere on the star's surface.

Famous Author/Protagonist Who Wants to Retire: So I'm thinking that the protagonist is probably one of those types who has been through A LOT in canon. Could be anything: the protagonist was a war survivor, a queen, an assassin, they had a busy career and they're tired, etc. They could have even had a brutal childhood and they just want to go to live somewhere quiet. Depends on how you want them to meet. The author could imagine them into reality after crying themselves to sleep, or they're teleported to their world. Maybe it isn't in the best interest for the protagonist to retire (they want to, but the author still needs them for the plot). For art: something with pages in a book, focus on whatever the protagonist's life is like.

Goddess Who Ended the World/Apocalypse Survivor: Why did the goddess end the world? Maybe she just wanted to start over with the right people she chose? It could be only women, mostly not. How is the survivor getting along until they meet? Is the survivor angry or do they understand why the world ended? For art: the goddess and survivor standing in front of the ruined landscape, touches, survivor wounded, hugs.

Shoujo Kakumei Utena | Revolutionary Girl Utena

Himemiya Anthy/Tenjou Utena

+ Anthy has moments where she thinks about Utena's kindness, even when she doesn't seem to understand it. How does that impact her expectations of being the Rose Bride?

+ I liked that Anthy finally seemed to believe in Utena after she works so hard to protect her, in a way. What happens post-canon when Anthy goes to look for her and leaves her brother behind? Where is Utena after she sets Anthy free? How do Anthy's thoughts change? Is she fully dedicated to it, and does she feel more emotion now that she has a purpose?

+ Akio says that it'd be a miracle if she ever dies. Does she ever die? Is she happy, sad, upset? Anthy may die alone, or perhaps she's with Utena at the end of her life? How does it come about?

+ What does she think in the moments she betrays Utena? Is she really apathetic about the whole thing? I believe she is, but she can always change her mind. What if she didn't care that Utena was a girl and could become her prince? What if things had gone differently and she didn't?

+ Any moments during their daily lives. Dates, duels, talking to their friends/Student Council dustlists, quiet moments, or even trips?

+ I loved their dance in the movie.

+ Honestly, I'll take other AUs based on being a prince/princess/priestess/royalty or anything like that that play off similar character tropes.

+ Based on the movie ending, what happens to them now at the end? What does the entire thing mean to them to get to the outside world? How do they build their lives from there?

 

art: Any of the surrealism elements from the series. Roses, clouds, high buildings, or food. Hugging. Sitting down over tea.
