Title: Sarah in a Hot Forest
Fandom: Pokėmon
Rating: PG
Character(s): Sarah Ameila-Anne Pure
Word Count: 988 words
Summary: Sarah wanders through a humid forest.
Notes: RP introduction for my character Sarah walking along a hot, lush forest pathway. Really like how it turned out. This is the same Sarah from Imperfect Moon, but she's just a bit different. Faith's adorable, isn't she? This is not in the sixteenth century, but a modern day timeset.
Moist and humid were the only accurate words to describe the depths of the giant forest. Ever since the early morning sunrise had burst through the eastern horizon hours ago the warmth of its rays had basked the massive crowns of the forest's oak trees in intense light. The temperature of the air had firmly rose under the protection of each tree's oversized dark green leaves, and a restless tenor had spread to the forest's residing Pokémon because of the unfavorable conditions. It was safe to say no definite trace of a refreshing breeze was evident to stir the forest into life. There were minor scrabbling and crying noises from native Pokémon lurking deep within the thick underbrush, but for those merely exploring for their own purposes, it was a forced challenge to continue through the naturally built dirt pathways throughout the area.
One person in particular had questioned herself regarding her motives to venture deep within the heated forest. Of course Sarah had overheard the weather reports on the local news station while she was preparing to leave the bustling Pokémon Center she currently stayed at in the nearby city before dawn. The warning from the deep-throated weather man had clearly stated it would be an unpleasant day to walk outdoors, but she had ignored the well-given advice to be careful. If there was any event which would persuade her out in such conditions, it would be her determination to find a certain herb or berry for her potion's set. The young fifteen-year-old had scolded herself even before setting one foot outside the air conditioned Pokémon hospital, but the action in no approach changed her mind. She had, after all, mapped out the entire forest and knew where to locate the exact berry she had been searching for in the last month. There was no possibility she would allow herself to be lost in the heavily weeded forest after analyzing the entire place for a few weeks under similar circumstances. If she could survive such weather before, she could do the same again; there was no chance she would subject herself to merely idly passing by time by sitting around. Besides that, those certain potion ingredients were best harvested under warm temperatures and there were plenty of them now in bloom, so the time was perfect. However, as logical as her mildly enthusiastic thoughts tried to pry her into believing these motivations, she still somewhat regretted her decision in her current position.
As Sarah paced with light footsteps down one of the narrow pathways in the forest, the female knew she could easily classify this certain spot as her least favorite. The path seemed limitless based on its length in quite a few miles and the hairy brush which scratched against the loose grains of sand at its edges. There were towering trees on both sides of the path and quite a bit of much-needed shade, but the sunlight still managed to penetrate through the burly branches above when a little gust of wind passed by. The combined impact of the strong heat just above the ground and the direct sunlight hitting Sarah's somewhat pale skin was received with eventual unease, and no matter her level of endurance to this point or love of nature, the sensation easily irritated her normally down-to-earth personality after being out for an hour or two already.
At the very least, she had arranged a suitable outfit for her little outing which granted her mild comfort. Sarah's waist-length mid-brown hair was evenly pulled into a ponytail with a dark blue ribbon, parts of her hair tucked behind her ears and some bangs lightly touching her forehead. The attire she wore was just as appropriate and comfortable. It mainly consisted of a thin short-sleeved lavender and white shirt which dipped just enough to expose her neck, and a pair of blue jean shorts. Since she preferred to have her legs covered, she did wear halfway knee-high lavender socks, and to compliment that, plain white sneakers. To top it all off, a small relief of coolness came from the round baby Pokémon she carefully had wrapped in her thin arms. Faith's blue skin was thankfully cool to the touch because of her Water-type heritage, so there was less chance she would be affected by the awful heat. In fact, the youthful and innocent Azurill had her head contently propped against her master's chest with her eyes closed, soundly asleep from the drowsy warmth in the air. The Azurill was happily smiling as she slept, peacefully unaware of the heat Sarah was suffering through. Faith was always a true angel when she was quietly resting in such a fashion, and Sarah kept herself silent the entire time so the Water-type Pokémon would not be disturbed. It would be cruel to destroy the adorable Azurill's blissful dreams
Sarah briefly gazed upward towards the azure-colored sky just lightly covered with puffy white clouds, earning herself a shot of radiant yellow sunlight filtering straight through a canopy of stocky oval leaves. She squinted in discomfort from the unexpected light and turned her head, focusing on the pathway again. She allowed for the brightness in her soft brown eyes to fade away as she walked, softly sighing in wonder. At least Sarah knew she was on the right track to her preplanned destination and she would probably arrive there in less than an hour. And if by any fluke or error, the completely detailed map of the forest was in the white and black striped backpack on her back; there was no way to lose today other than the current weather circumstances. She would finally get those special ingredients she had been craving to add to her collection for so many weeks, and that in itself would simply please her immensely. With that thought in mind, she continued onward, moving her feet with rhythmically purpose to collect her prize.
